This is a fictional story that takes place during KLM’s first scheduled flight from Amsterdam to New York on May 21, 1946.

“PHOTOGRAPHERS, RADIO JOURNALISTS AND CAMERAMEN POSITION THEMSELVES WITH THEIR TRIPODS ON THE SCHIPHOL RUNWAY TO REPORT ON THE NOW-LEGENDARY FLIGHT OF THE FLYING DUTCHMAN.”

May 21, 1964; the first scheduled transatlantic flight, from Amsterdam to New York, in a DC-4. Butter Ball Time is a fictional account of this historic even. One passenger, a young woman, wrote a letter during the flight. As you read, you’ll travel with her from Amsterdam to New York.

Butter Ball Time is a publication of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines commemorating the anniversary of the first scheduled transatlantic flight on May 21, 1946, a service of KLM.

Seventy years later, KLM is still flying to New York.

The book takes the reader from Amsterdam to New Amsterdam – in form as well as storyline.

It begins in Dutch and gradually transitions to English.

With Butter Ball Time, KLM passengers from Amsterdam to New York will travel from one continent to another not just physically, but in their imagination as well.

Als je Engels en Nederlands kan lezen ga dan naar De Boterballentijd en lees het hele verhaal zoals het in het boek staat.
